No purchase was necessary to enter but entrants were required to fundraise a minimum of $75.00 for the Children's Miracle Network.

The contestants were evaluated on essay questions which they answered in 250 words or less:

      >>> Why are organizations such as the Children's Miracle Network important?

      >>> How am I ensuring myself a successful future through my education?

The essays were judged by a panel of experts in the fields of non-profits and education. Entries were judged with the contestant's age being taken into consideration to ensure all entrants were on a level playing field.

The Children's Miracle Network

The Miss America Organization has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network to raise funds and awareness for children’s hospitals throughout the United States. Contestants competing in Miss America-sponsored pageants are now expected to raise a minimum of $100 in donations for Children’s Miracle Network and the Miss America Scholarship Fund. It’s not an entrance fee, but a new service requirement. In addition, each new Miss America becomes the goodwill ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network, speaking on behalf of kids treated at children’s hospitals and raising awareness around the country. It’s just another way the Miss America Organization helps young women leave a legacy of service, scholarship and support. To learn more, click here.
